Dr. Amina El Oteify leaves Sarie-Eldin & Partners and joins the new authority EFSA

After 2 years of dedication to the Firm in the capacity of "Legal Advisor", during which she successfully contributed to the establishment of and growth of Sarie-Eldin & partners, Dr. Amina El Oteify has joined the newly established Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority (the EFSA), in July 2009. Paying tribute to Dr. El Oteify precious contribution to the Firmメs success and to their long-standing collaboration, Dr. Hani Sarie-Eldin, founder and Chairman of Sarie-Eldin & Partners, said: "I have known Dr. Amina on a professional and also personal level since 1987 (for almost 22 years). A Recently Inaugurated Litigation Department at Sarie-Eldin & Partners

In response to an increasing demand from our clients to provide litigation and representation services, a newly litigation department has been inaugurated. This department aims at providing a wide range of dispute settlement services ranging from judicial litigation to arbitration and other alternative dispute settlement methods. The litigation group is currently headed by Mr. Ahmed Abdallah, who has recently joined Sarie-Eldin & Partners after 12 years with Shalakany Law Firm.

Sarie-Eldin &Partners invites the students' union of the University of Nijmegen

In collaboration with students' union of the University of Nijmegen in Holland, Sarie-Eldin and Partners invited 37 students, varying from first to fourth year of undergraduate legal studies, to visit its premises at the Smart Village. Dr. Ramy El Borai held a succinct presentation to the invitees as regards the Egyptian Legal system, its intricacies and the challenges it imposes on practitioners. Sarie-Eldin and Partners hosted a lunch at the Smart village (Smash club) where, in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, the students have had the chance and time to enquire about various aspects of the country, whether in relation to legal matters or otherwise. Subsequently, the students met with different renowned practitioners and legal advisors from the National Counsel of Human Rights and a legal advisor from a multinational company, who shared with them his experience at both the professional and academic level.

Arab Society for International Trade law organizes a regional Conference

The Arab Society for International Trade law and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina organized a Regional Conference in Alexandria last November 2008 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina for 3 days. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards and to commemorate the late counselor Dr. Mohamed Aboul Enein and his most impressive and generous legacy.

A Euromoney Conference held in Cairo

Under the auspices of the Prime Ministry, the Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Euromoney Conference was held in Cairo in May 2008 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The conference focused on the economic and financial crisis, its underpinning along with its impact on Egypt and the MENA region. Further discussions took place with respect to the way forward and possible medium to longer-term solutions. A special emphasis was placed on the need to differentiate between the Egyptian economic system and the monetary system, the capital market economy, the real economy and the informal sector. Dr. Hani Sarie Eldin, Founder and Chairman of Sarie-Eldin and Partners, was invited as a speaker to highlight Capital Market reforms in Egypt. Cumulating more than 22 year of experience in business law and capital market and being the former Chairman of the Capital Market Authority in Egypt, he exposed the different challenges the capital market faces and the necessity for an effective reform process to enhance the regulation, supervision and transparency of the Egyptian capital market.
